5 Months!

5 Months Old - January 8, 2011
Weight - 16lbs (estimate)...Edited 1/14/11 - 16.4lbs (had to take him to the Dr. due to cold & cough and they weighed him there)
Length - 26 inches (estimate - no 5 month old wants to lay completely straight for some reason)

At 5 Months he:

• Eats 5-8 ounces of sensitive formula with plain or mixed fruit rice. It hasn't gotten rid of his spit-up completely, but has reduced it considerably. He is now eating jar foods! Apples, applesauce, bananas, pears, sweet potatoes, squash, green beans and peas. He loves them all except Gerber brand applesauce...weird child. We will introduce meats once he has his 6 month checkup and the dr. gives the go ahead. He recognizes his bottle or any other Dr. Brown bottle (the brand we use). If he sees an empty one sitting anywhere, he goes ballistic and wants to be fed, even if he's not hungry. I was fixing a bottle and shaking it and I looked up and clear across the room he was staring me down and making sucking motions. He's a fiend!
  
• Still sleeps through the night (8:30pm-6am), with 2-3 hour nap in a.m. and small nap in p.m.
  
• Sitting up pretty regularly; it doesn't last long, but he's getting better at it and is able to do it various places (i.e. couch, bed, our laps, his changing pad, the floor).
  
• Rolls from stomach to back and back to stomach with no problems! I walked in one morning to find him completely on his stomach (he sleeps on his back), looking around...so cute!
  
• Reaches and grabs for everything! His new faves are the t.v. remote and our cell phones. And of course, everything still goes straight to the mouth. Including feet!
  
• Teething - still no teeth, just that one underneath the gum and I've felt another bump on the top, but no sign of anything. One day is drool-less and others, it gets everywhere. He will swallow your face if you hold him too close - he loves to nosh on our cheeks. We say he's kissing us. :)
• Screeches and talks. The screeching is so thrilling for him, almost like a game to see how loud he can get. We love it! And he's started talking more, like normal tones and conversational-like; he'll have his paci in his hand looking at it and talk to it and sometimes it seems like he's waiting for a response before he starts to talk again. Too funny!

Everyday has a surprise in store for us. The rate at which he develops mentally and physically is nothing short of amazing. Having him in our lives has made me realize even more how truly beautiful children are. It's so hard to think that each of us have all made this journey.
