What have we been doing this first
month of the new year, you ask? Trying to survive the Broadwell Family
Sickpocalypse of 2013! It has seriously been one ailment after another,
for all four of us!
Week 1 - Anders was the first to go down with an ear infection.
Week
2 - I was up next with strep throat and a respiratory virus. I was
able to take an antibiotic for the strep infection, but no steroid shot
for the respiratory virus, because the dr. was unsure of how it would
affect my milk production and/or milk quality.
Week
2 - Charlie could hardly wait his turn and went to the dr. the day
after me with what we thought was strep as well. Negative strep test,
but the dr. gave him an antibiotic just to knock out any potential
infections and he received a flu shot. Too little, too late because he
was sick all last week with the flu!
Week
3 - Lena had her first sick appt. visit and was diagnosed with an ear
infection and a slight respiratory virus. Sweet baby was happy even
when she wasn't feeling good...
Week
3 - Back to Anders. He caught a common cold virus and then several
days later caught a 24-hour stomach bug, which seems to terrorize his
entire daycare. We are a few days out from that and it seems the rest
of us we're lucky to have not caught that.
To
date, I have not worked a complete week since being back from holiday
vacation. But, I think we are all on the mend now. No croupy coughs,
clogged nasal passages or sleepless nights now for a few days. Lena has
a little bit of a runny nose, but by the way she's been acting lately,
I'd associate that more with her teething than an illness.
Hopefully, we've seen the end of these nasty germ visitors and we can get to normal around here!
